On Monday December 20, 2021, my mom was officially diagnosed with having Myeloma.
Myeloma is a form of Cancer that attacks the blood and causes malignant tumors of the bone marrow.
With this condition, Myeloma, also called multiple myeloma, is a cancer of the plasma cells. Plasma cells are white blood cells that make antibodies that protect us from infection. In myeloma, the cells grow too much, crowding out normal cells in the bone marrow that make red blood cells, platelets, and other white blood cells.a group of plasma cells becomes cancerous and multiplies. The disease can damage the bones, immune system, kidneys, and red blood cell count.
We thought to ourselves, not our mom, she doesn't smoke, drink and has been well most of her life. But even more, she would have told us. Welp, she didn't! She kept the symptoms quiet and what doctors shared quiet because she was afraid. What would people think? I don't want to be a bother....I don't want to die!
Fastforward - the pain in her bones got too unbareable and she begin to have headaches which landed her in the ER with my brother. This compelled Mommy to "Have The Conversation, Now"!
